Legislative Successes In 2012

Kelley Cawthorne had many successes on behalf of Protect MI Dogs

Hosted a legislative meet and greet in Novi in January.

Made Protect MI Dogs a resource for dog-related legislative issues.

Lobbied against and killed regulation of commercial kennels bill introduced late 2011 in both the House and the Senate by Reps. Barnett, Schmidt; Sen. Jones, and Sen. Beida respectively.

Lobbied against, and exempted, hobby breeders from the animal abuse registry legislation introduced in the House by Rep. Santana and Rep. Tlaib.

Met with the new director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) Jamie Clover Adams who was open to working with PMD to add dog breeding information on the MDA website.
